His story

Why Tom wrote these books

Tom Briggs doesn't write from theory. He writes from experience — the kind that comes from watching people (including himself) make the same relationship mistakes on repeat, and finally asking the right question: what's the common denominator?

The answer, more often than not, is the person asking the question. Not because they're broken. Not because they're unlovable. But because they've never been honest enough with themselves to see the gap between who they are and who they need to become.

The Before You Choose series came out of that realisation. Two books, one for men and one for women, both asking the same uncomfortable question from different angles: are you showing up as the version of yourself that the person you want would actually choose?

Tom doesn't sugarcoat it. He doesn't believe in the kind version of this conversation — because the kind version hasn't been working. What he does believe in is that most people, given an honest mirror and a clear framework, are capable of doing the work.

"The hook doesn't bait itself. These books are the bait."
